Always match the engine code before you order
The same model can be fitted with several different engines across its production run, and those engines are rarely interchangeable. Mounting points, wiring, ECU mapping, sump geometry and emissions equipment all change between codes. Confirm the code stamped on your block against the code in our product title, and confirm whether the listing includes the wiring harness, ECU or gearbox. If in doubt, send us your vehicle details and we will check compatibility before you pay.
What to check when the engine arrives
Inspect the unit before it is fitted. Turn the crank by hand to confirm it rotates freely, check the block and head for cracks or weld repairs, and look at the condition of the sump, turbo and injectors where those are included. Any workshop fitting a replacement engine should also renew the timing components, water pump, thermostat, oil and filters as part of the installation. We supply the engine; fitment is handled by your own workshop.

- What is the difference between a second-hand import engine and a crate engine?
- A second-hand import engine is a used unit removed from a donor vehicle, typically imported from Japan or Europe, tested and sold as a complete assembly. A crate engine is supplied brand new. Import engines cost less; crate engines carry no prior running hours. Both are listed on this page, and crate units are grouped under our Crate Engines category.
- How do I find the correct engine code for my car?
- The engine code is stamped on the engine block and is usually also printed on the vehicle licence disc or the manufacturer's plate in the engine bay or door jamb. Match that code against the code in our product title before ordering. If you are unsure, send us your vehicle registration details on WhatsApp and we will confirm the correct unit.
- Do you deliver engines outside Pretoria?
